Round Slings

Often referred to as endless slings. The nature of our round slings provide superior flexibility and can be configured to irregular loads. These slings are made from polyester and have a very low weight-to-strength ratio in comparison to the traditional chain and wire options. For special applications, SPS can also offer custom made solutions.

The round sling is our most versatile lifting sling as they feature high tenacity polyester fibres (PES) which are protected by a durable sleeve made of single ply polyester tubing.

Standard Flat Slings (Single and Duplex)

Our most popular lifting sling. Available up to 12T, our standard flat slings are available in simplex (1 layer) and duplex (2 layer) forms and offer solutions to most lifting situations. Woven from high tenacity polyester yarn, these webbing slings feature low weight, flexibility of use and ease of handling. They give significant improvements in safety and costs in comparison to other lifting equipment.

Bespoke Slings, Nets or Load Restraints

Additionally, we can also manufacture bespoke items, custom made to your specification. Just get in touch with your ideas and we will be more than happy to help. Examples of these are:
  • Cargo Nets
  • Battery Nets
  • Cylinder Nets
  • Wheel Straps
For bespoke items our webbing is also available in a range of colours and various fittings.

SPS have the ability to design and manufacture flat sling constructions varying from 1T to 50T. The lifting slings are manufactured from 100% polyester fibres (PES), covering sling types from single, duplex endless to quadplex constructions. Flat slings are a more versatile solution than substitute products such as wire rope or chain options.
  • Flat slings up to 50T (quads) safety factor 7:1
  • Woven from high tenacity polyester (PES) yarn
  • Stripe denotes SWL
  • Easy identification with colour codes and ID markers
  • Off the shelf product available up to 6T (standard)
  • Custom made lifting solutions for non-standard applications
  • Available with a choice of wear sleeves for added protection at the load point(s)
  • In accordance to EN1492-1
  • For special applications, SPS can also offer custom made solutions.

Ultralift Slings

Our Ultralift round slings are made from Dyneema®, the world’s strongest fibre™. Ultralift lifting slings have become an essential lifting tool over the last decade for special and heavy lifting operations. The material has proven itself during this period as a substitute for steel wire ropes and chains in demanding areas.
• Round slings up to 180T safety factor 7:1
• 10% of the weight of traditional wire rope slings
• Floats on water and is extremely durable and resistant to moisture, micro-organisms, UV light and chemical attack (including acid)
• Also available as wear sleeves and corner protection products
• Low weight – low density
• Works in temperatures ranging from -60°c and +70°c
• Exercises precise lifting and therefore good control of the load

Glow Flat Slings (Duplex)

Innovative Glow flat slings are produced from webbing which incorporates reflective yarn, available in multiple constructions. The reflective yarn becomes active once light hits it, ideal for night time operations.

Chain Slings Grade 8 (G8, G80)

Chain slings are available in various grades and materials with the most widely used in the UK being Grade 8 (or G8) alloy. LINX-8 Grade 8 chain slings are both economical and of high quality and are available in chain sizes from 6mm to 32mm along with a comprehensive range of fittings that cover a wide variety of applications. LINX-8 G8 chain slings fully conform to EN818-4 (chain to EN818-2 and components to EN1677).
Grade 8 chain slings should not be confused with slings classified as Grade 80 as these may be manufactured using boron alloy chain, or with fittings that do not conform to EN1677 and therefore do not meet with the requirements of EN818. Whilst Grade 80 chain slings are rated with the same working load limits (WLL) as G8 slings, they may not perform equally under certain conditions.

Grade 10 (G10, G100)

Grade 10 (or G10) chain slings are becoming more widely used due to their increase in load capacity of +25% over Grade 8. This increase in working load limit (WLL) allows the user in certain circumstances to select a smaller chain diameter than that of G8 which makes the sling lighter and therefore easier to handle. G10 material is also slightly harder than G8 which gives the added benefit of increased toughness and longer service life. Pewag Winner Grade 100 chain slings are produced to the highest possible quality standards and the range of fittings available make this one of the most comprehensive chain sling systems available. Chain sizes from 5mm to 32mm offer lifting capacities of up to 85 tonnes on a four leg sling.

Grade 12 (G12, G120)

Pewag Winner Pro Grade 12 (or G12 / G120) chain slings are available offering an increase in load capacity of +20% over G10 and 50% over G8. This allows the user to select a full chain size lower than that of G8 whilst maintaining a comparative WLL resulting in a significant weight saving.
The special profiled chain which was developed by Pewag and used in the Winner Pro G12 system offers significant improvements in bending resistance when compared to round section chains (6% increase) which is particularly useful when loading a sling over a corner.

Grade 6+ (G63) Pewag Winner INOX G6

Pewag stainless steel chain slings are available in G6+ (G63) in both mechanically joined or welded forms and are used extensively in the food industry and chemical processing plants as well as marine, waste and fresh water environments.
The Pewag Winner Inox G6+ programme is available in sizes ranging from 4mm through to 26mm giving load capacities of up to 12 tonnes on a single fall sling.
Pewag stainless steel pump lifting slings are widely recognised throughout the water treatment industry and have set the benchmark for safety and quality.

Pewag Profilift Lifting Points, Lashing Points & Fall Arrest Anchor Points

Pewag Profilift screwable and weld-on lifting points correspond to the Machine Directive (MRL) 2006/42/EC and Machine Safety Prescriptions (MSV) 2010 as well as EN 1677-1 technical specifications.

Sometimes referred to as swivel hoist rings or swivel lifting eyes, Pewag lifting points are manufactured in the company’s ISO 9001 and 14001 certified plants and guarantee a minimum factor of safety of 4:1 with maximum dynamic load tests achieving a minimum of 20,000 cycles at 2.5 times the working load limit. Each lifting point is marked with an individual serial number and / or batch number for full traceability.

Grade 6+ (G63) Pewag Winner INOX G6

Load Restraint

Load lashing or load restraint is a vital component for the safe transport of goods whether this be by road, rail or sea. Outside forces applied to the load caused by the effects of breaking, accelerating or cornering have a dramatic effect on how the load is to be restrained.
In a similar way to how we select lifting equipment, the shape and type of load as well as the effects of the working angles of the lashings, can increase the forces considered and consequently these factors affect the choice of both the type of lashing that should be selected and the method of how they should be used (friction or direct lashing).
BS EN 12195 Parts 1 to 4 were introduced to provide a means of conforming to the essential safety requirements for lashing and load restraint in the Common European market and thus enabling the free movement of goods.

First Aid The New BS8599-1: 2019 Standard

The new BS8599-1: 2019 Standard requires that any industry that has the potential risk of a critical injury should have a critical injury medical kit to supplement their normal workplace first aid kits.

However, the HSE will still require a full risk assessment to be undertaken, as risks of serious injury may still be found in areas of work. It may be that you have staff or visitors who are prone to excessive bleeding due to blood thinning medicine or physical conditions such as haemophilia.

In order to help you work to this standard, we have introduced three categories of critical injury packs which cover low, medium and high levels of risk you may find in the workplace.
